Weddings weddings weddings. Everyoneeeeeeee and their sister’s boyfriend’s mother’s cousin’s step-grandmother’s puppy’s groomer is getting married. Am I jealous? Hell yes, I’m jealous. It’s kinda tearing me apart. I want to book the venue. I want to taste-test the cakes. I want to compile the invitations and I reallllllllly want to say “yes” to the dress. I want to design the cheesiest of the cheesiest save-the-dates and pair up the groomsmen and bridesmaids. I won’t even sign onto facebook anymore because my newsfeed is filled with wall posts of engagement rings with accompanying captions reading “I said yes!” or “he finally asked me!” My wedding pinterest board is called “Wedding (pshhhhh yeah right)” because it seems like it will never happen for me. I’m not attempting to pout or throw a pity party, I just need to express my deep desire for a wedding somewhere. If I tell my boyfriend of merely 6 weeks, he’s likely to take off in a full sprint for the nearest bus station to escape my slight wedding obsession.
This Saturday I am traveling 3 hours to Evansville, IN to shop for wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses with a great friend of mine. This will be my 3rd bridesmaid appearance. I’m well on my way to becoming just like Katherine Heigl’s character Jane in 27 Dresses. Oh well, I shall keep my fingers crossed for my turn to celebrate and plan. Until then, I’ll probably be following suit with that main character and drunkenly singing “Benny and the Jets” in lonesome, yet hopeful, misery.
